We read with interest the systematic review and meta-analysis of the association between birth weight and type 1 diabetes by Harder et al. (1). However, we think that the reported association between birth weight and type 1 diabetes could be subject to considerable reporting bias because only a small proportion of published studies containing relevant data were included.
