RE: "EPIDEMIOLOGY OF INSULIN-LIKE GROWTH FACTOR-I IN ELDERLY MEN AND WOMEN: THE RANCHO BERNARDO STUDY"

ABSTRACT

The Journal has been informed by Drs. Goodman-Gruen and Barrett-Connor of errors in the abstract of their recently published paper on insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) in elderly men and women (1). Specifically, as published, a sentence in the abstract reads:"IGF-I decreased linearly with age in both sexes, with significantly lower levels in men than women (126.9 µg/liter vs. 134.1 µg/liter p = 0.03)." The correct sentence should read: "IGF-I decreased linearly with age in both sexes, with significantly higher levels in men than women (134.1 µg/liter vs. 126.9 µg/liter; p = 0.03)." The Journal regrets these errors.
