ERRATUM

RE: "UROPATHOGENIC ESCHERICHIA COLI ARE MORE LIKELY THAN COMMENSAL E. COLI TO BE SHARED BETWEEN HETEROSEXUAL SEX PARTNERS"

American Journal of Epidemiology2002156113340

There is an error in table 3 of the article by Foxman et al. (1) published in the December 15, 2002, issue of the Journal on page 1138. The confidence interval for "uropathogen with P pili" in model 2, predicting whether an isolate colonizes both members of a couple, is incorrect. The values shown (0.96, 7.17) are the confidence interval for the interaction coefficient. However, the odds ratio shown was calculated by adding the parameter estimates for the two main effects variables (uropathogen and P pili) and their interaction term. Thus, the correct confidence interval should instead read (4.76, 60.78), consistent with the calculated odds ratio of 17.00.

The authors and the Journal apologize for this error.
