ERRATA

RE: "RISK ASSESSMENT FOR 2,3,7,8-TETRACHLORODIBENZO-P-DIOXIN (TCDD) BASED ON AN EPIDEMIOLOGIC STUDY"

In table 3 of a paper by Steenland et al. recently published in the Journal (1Go), excess risks were given. Four of them, those for which TEQ rather than TCDD was used (rows 2, 3, 7, and 8), are incorrect. The published excess risks were off by an order of magnitude, so the error is not trivial; however, the paper focused on TCDD and not TEQ, and the overall conclusions of the paper regarding excess risks are not altered.

The correct excess risks (95 percent confidence intervals) are as follows: Model: log cumulative serum (ppt-years), 15-year lag: 10.0 TEQs, males: 0.0132 (0.0028, 0.0192); females: 0.0113 (0.0024, 0.0164); model: piecewise linear, no lag: 10.0 TEQs, males: 0.0071 (0.0029, 0.0014); females: 0.0060 (0.0024, 0.0097).

The Journal and the authors regret the error.
