ABSTRACT

RE: "ETHICS IN EPIDEMIOLOGY AND CUNICAL RESEARCH. ANNOTATED READINGS"

Two errors appeared in Professor Claes-Göran Westrin's thoughtful review of my recent book Ethics in Epidemiology and Clinical Research. Annotated Readings, which appeared in the October 1 issue of the Journal (1). Firstly, Colin Soskolne's landmark paper on the rationale for ethical guidelines for epidemiologists appeared in the American Journal of Epidemiology in 1989, not in 1900 as stated in the book review. Secondly, the book is indeed bound and is available in paperback form. The reviewer may have received an advance copy of the book in unbound form prior to its release.
