ERRATUM

ABSTRACT

The Journal has been notified by Dre. Catherine Hill and Monique G. Lê of the Departement de Statistique Médicale, INSERM, Villejuif, France, of an error in converting to metric units in the article by Pastides et al., "An Epidemiologic Study of Fibrocystic Breast Disease with Reference to Ductal Epithelial Atypia" (Am J Epidemiol 1985;121:440–7). Unfortunately, in converting the mean weight of women from pounds to kilograms, the Journal copy editor multiplied by the conversion factor rather than dividing by it; this error was not subsequently identified. The Journal regrets the error. The correct measurements for the mean weights presented in table 2 (page 443) are: cases, 136.20 lb (61.78 kg) and controls, 147.22 lb (66.78 kg), with the odds ratio being 0.8 for each 10 lb (4.5 kg) increase. Note that similar corrected conversions are necessary in the text on pages 442 and 444. The editors of the Journal and the first author, Dr. Pastides, join in thanking Drs. Hill and Lê for pointing out our error.
